PHOENICIAN FUN
The HUBS and I like to call Phoenix one of our hometowns. Its a beautiful, very clean, newer city with tons to offer. At first glance, many would never realize that it is the 6th largest city in the states. You will never feel the 5 million Phoenician natives, primarily because the city is so well mapped out (grid system FTW) and quite physically large (14,000 sq miles)! That means its bigger than Boston & Chicago! Who'd thought?!
Another perk is that its driving distance to many major cities & the sunny beaches of Mexico: LA (5.5 hrs), Las Vegas (4 hrs), Grand Canyon (3 hrs), Sedona (2 hrs). Its also quite pretty in its own right. Phoenix is located in a valley with tons of surrounding mountains aka beautiful hikes. Plus who doesn't like sunshine 300 days a year?
After living here for some time, the HUBS and I have created a list of MUSTS for visitors.

Both trails lead to the same point with exquisite views of the city. Plus during the holiday season you may even find a Christmas tree with ornaments at the top! Best times to go: October - March. Avoid weekends if you don't like a crowd or to be hustled while hiking! Be prepared to be on all fours. Elevation: 2707 ft.
