NEW ROMANTICS

My friend Kavie recently asked me to help her brainstorm some ideas for her engagement shoot thats happening later this month.  Obviously I completely took over because I love clothes, and photography (sorry Kavie!!).  I can't help it!  When she told me that they were taking pictures with Cherry Blossoms I just about lost it.  Cherry blossoms are probably my favorite tree, second to dogwoods.  And, may I remind y'all that the HUBS and I did take our engagement pics in a random cotton field beside the interstate.

So yea, I'm a huge fan of nature inspired shoots and blooms.  And cherry blossoms would be absolutely beautiful.  The softness of the pink is so pretty, feminine and just so effortlessly ephemeral!

When Kavie and I were brainstorming her #OOTD for this shoot and correlating hair + makeup, I could see a couple scenarios really complementing the scenery.

Immediately I thought: white lace.    Lately fashion has been obsessed with white & lace, but not in a bridal way.  Labels like Self Portrait, Alexis, Timo Weiland and Jonathan Simkhai have made white lace dresses exotic, flirty and wearable.  My inspiration for Kavie came from these dresses.

I really love how intricate these designs are.  And wouldn't a similar style look gorgeous amidst cherry blossoms??  Here are some similar more affordable styles.  I think some of these styles could also make beautiful rehearsal dinner dresses too.

We also talked about accessories and we all know how much I love shoes.  Personally, I feel like strappy sandals would be best.  They really complement the lace.  Here are some that I think would look beautiful with the dresses above!

Now for makeup.  I have recently become quite partial to berry stained lips.  The idea of dark romance is so alluring.  Especially in pictures.  Kavie's lucky because her coloring allows for really most makeup palettes.  She would look great in pink, berry, and retro red!  Check out these beautiful looks created by Teni Panosian of Miss Maven makeup blog that I think would be perfect for Kavie's engagement shoot.

I love Teni's video tutorials.  For more info on Teni, check out her youtube page or her blog and click on the pics above for links to recreate these looks!

Lastly, if Kavie wanted to go in a completely different direction and choose color to complement the pink cherry blossoms then these dresses would also look beautiful.

Which dress would you pick??  Let me know in the comments section below!
